MDF is a composite wood and is very commonly used for furniture， cabinetry， shelving and decorative moldings. Mantel ships in 3-pieces; 2-legs and 1-header. The legs attach easily to the header with nuts and bolts. Mitered hanger board assembly included for easy installation as well as a 3-piece mitered scribe molding set to hide any gaps after installation. All assembly hardware is included， not included is hardware to mount the hanger rail， it is necessary to purchase hardware that is appropriate for your specific mounting surface， for example， brick requires a different mounting hardware than drywall
Finish the look with 3-piece scribe molding set， included， 1-1/2 in. projection behind the mantel allows for easy installation over your non-combustible material (i.e. marble， slate)， secure the scribes around the opening to hide any gaps
MDF is considered a combustible material， heat clearances must be adhered to， if installing over a fireplace， check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove
